If money’s tight and you’re hanging for a holiday, it’s time to make a more creative getaway booking. Might I suggest you purchase a low-cost ticket to the Mushroom Kingdom, perhaps followed by an extended layover in the Galar or Sinnoh regions. They’re all absolutely lovely this time of year. Though with the latter two options, well, you’ll be constantly ambushed by native wildlife. So maybe get that rabies shot.

History-wise, we have two bona fide greats to celebrate. It’s been 19 years since Half-Life 2 (and the Source engine in general) blew our minds like a gravity-blasted toilet to the bonce. And it’s been 16 years since the launch of one of the best 3D Mario games ever. My mushroom kingdom for a Switch port of its imaginatively titled sequel, Super Mario Galaxy 2.
