Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Delayed to Second Half of 2024
Estimated reading time: 2 minutes
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has been hit with a delay that will see its PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S launch pushed to sometime in the second half of 2024.
It’s a sizable delay that Focus Entertainment delivered as part of an update today. The previous plan was to see developer Saber Interactive release Space Marine 2 sometime before 2023 came to a close. Now, a few days into the third week of November, a delay isn’t much of a surprise.
Focus says it moved to delay the project due to its desire to provide players with a high-quality experience.
“The game is now poised to ship in the second half of 2024, to provide the time needed to properly polish the game and to ensure the best possible experience,” Focus said in a statement. “Focus Entertainment is committed to releasing a game that is of the highest quality and that exceeds the expectations of the countless fans of the franchise. Space Marine 2 has already accumulated over a million wish lists to date.”
On the upside, Focus says fans can expect to see a Space Marine 2 release date announcement arrive in “early December.” It’s not quite clear when the date will be announced, but with The Game Awards 2023 set to take place on December 7, it might be a safe bet to expect the news then.
Focus and Saber revealed more Space Marine 2 gameplay in August, promising a gritty third-person action experience that lets players rip through oceans of Tyranids. It’s set to be another entry in the expansive Warhammer 40,000 universe that even took inspiration from Syama Pedersen’s Astartes fan film.
