CoD Season 6 Patch Notes Detail Weapon Buffs And Bug Fixes For BO6 And Warzone
Call of Duty Season 6 goes live in Black Ops 6 and Warzone on October 9, and the latest patch notes reveal major changes for the season. This includes new seasons of Ranked Play, weapon improvements across multiplayer and Warzone, as well as several bug fixes for maps in Zombies mode.
Call of Duty has entered its spooky season. Season 6 is themed around the game’s annual The Haunting event for Halloween, bringing holiday-themed content and a brand-new battle pass. The Season 6 battle pass includes The Predator as a playable operator, and there are two new guns available to unlock. Call of Duty’s $30 BlackCell pass also returns.
For Black Ops 6, the Season 6 update adds more multiplayer maps and Zombies gets a Halloween-themed mode. Warzone gets nighttime maps for both Verdansk and Rebirth Island, and the popular Zombies Royale mode returns.
The Haunting also includes a paid operator bundle for Jason Voorhees, and there’s a Chucky event that adds both Chucky and Tiff as operator rewards in the paid event pass. The full highlights for Call of Duty Season 6 can be found here.
The Season 6 patch notes for both Black Ops 6 and Warzone can be found below, as shared by Activision.
Anti-cheat updates
Activision’s anti-cheat team for Ricochet recently revealed stats from the Black Ops 7 beta, announcing that by day five, about 98.8% of matches had no cheaters. This is partially due to the implementation of TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot for PC players.
Starting with Season 6, Black Ops 6 players will start receiving expanded in-game notifications to include additional details about TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot requirements. Activision says this update is designed to help players better understand and resolve issues related to their PC’s security configuration.
TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot will be required with the launch of Black Ops 7. For those wanting additional assistance, we have a full guide on setting up TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot on PC, so you can be ready for the game’s launch.
New Ranked Play seasons
Both Black Ops 6 and Warzone will have new seasons of the competitive Ranked Play mode. This resets the ladders for the season, and there are new rewards available to earn for each.
The mode’s Demotion Protection will be active for everyone’s first three Ranked Play losses in Season 6, and players can expect one free loss per day via Daily Loss Forgiveness like previous seasons.
Gun buffs for multiplayer
Season 6 features a small list of improvements for Black Ops 6 weapons in multiplayer. Notably, the Goblin Mk2 assault rifle. The rifle received adjustments to reduce the hipfire spread by 0.25 degrees and greatly reduce the first shot recoil. This should allow players to fire the Goblin Mk2 faster while still being able to remain accurate.
The ABR A1 assault rifle also received an impactful change. The gun will now only need one headshot for a one-burst kill at all ranges. The developer says the power of the gun’s Full Auto mod remains the same, but there will now be a recoil penalty when going fully-auto with the ABR A1.
Zombies map fixes
This new season brings plenty of fixes for issues on Black Ops 6’s final Zombies map, Reckoning.
The update addresses an issue where players could previously get stuck behind a S.A.M. Trial machine during the boss fight in Reckoning. It also fixed an issue where the Containment Unit would appear closed after opening and reloading a game save in Reckoning. A few clipping issues were addressed, which previously allowed zombies or Franken-Klaus to appear through the walls.
Warzone new ground loot
Season 6 refreshes the ground loot available to find in Warzone matches. This new loot pool includes the addition of the season’s new battle pass guns: the new Merrick 556 assault rifle and Dresden 9MM submachine gun.
Contract adjustment for Plunder
The developer fixed an issue where the Search and Destroy contract in Plunder was previously granting incorrect or missing rewards. This contract has been updated to provide the correct rewards. Completing the contract now awards $20,000 cash to each squad member.
Warzone equipment changes
The throwing knife, smoke grenade, and thermobaric grenade are all receiving changes in Season 6. The knife and thermobaric are getting buffs, while the maximum smoke grenades players can carry is being reduced. These changes are listed as follows:
Throwing Knife:
- Base damage increased from 175 to 250
- Headshots now deal 500 damage
- Neck and upper-chest hits now deal 275 damage
Smoke Grenade:
- Maximum carry amount reduced from 2 to 1
Thermobaric:
- Detonation time reduced from 1.75s to 1s
- Inner explosive damage increased from 220 to 280
- Outer explosive damage increased from 55 to 175
Warzone weapon adjustments
All of the weapon tuning for Season 6 is positive changes to improve guns. Most notably, the CR-56 AMAX and Model L assault rifles now have increased damage ranges and improved bullet velocity. Both guns have become less popular over the seasons with several nerfs taking place, but these improvements should make both guns viable for mid- to long-range fights.
Season 6 patch notes
Black Ops 6
The Haunting has returned with a vengeance. Hot off the heels of the Black Ops 7 Open Beta, The Haunting brings new Maps, Map Variants, Weapons, Limited-Time Game Modes, and a variety of updates. Fight as and against iconic slashers and zombies and unlock a hearty helping of spooky rewards scattered throughout in-game events and the new seasonal Battle Pass. Season 06 launches tomorrow at 9AM PT.
New Multiplayer Maps
Gravity (6v6)
- Breach an underground testing facility for Advanced Technologies and Applications. Explore the sprawling compound and its immediate grounds, a mixture of concrete bunkers housing the Lobby and Reception areas leading to the real work of the facility: advanced combat research in the Low Gravity room.
Rig (6v6)
- Explore an eerie truck stop at dusk on this small-sized map featuring a turned over rig that has smashed into a gas station, collapsing the roof and starting a fire dangerously close to the pumps. Fight on the streets and meet your foes head-to-head in the combo Restaurant and Shop or get above the chaos and fire down from the Garage and Motel balcony.
Mothball (6v6, 2v2)
- Built below the Gravity testing facility, Mothball is inspired by the cognitive research facility encountered in the Black Ops 6 Campaign level “Emergence.” Prepare to face off against enemy squads around the base of the golden Statue blocking sightlines from the Entrance to the Elevator. Or if you can make it through the narrow paths unscathed, move through the Hallway and Observation wings to skip the center altogether in favor of a flanking maneuver that brings you straight to enemy team.
New Multiplayer Map Variant
Boo-Town (6v6)
- The sun sets on Nuketown as skeletons, spiders, and Jack-o’-Lanterns infiltrate the quiet cul-de-sac. Massive, animated spiders crawl on the rooftop of the Green House while skeletons infiltrate the Yellow House, including a massive skull surveying the ensuing chaos. Menacing laughter and creaking doorways add a haunted soundscape to the already chilling décor. Face your fears or risk losing it all.
New Multiplayer Modes
Slasher Deathmatch
Slashers are on the prowl, seeking out their next victim. The Haunting amps up the screams with Slasher Deathmatch, where survivors face off against slashers inspired by some of horror’s most terrifying villains. Jason brings brute force and dread, while Chucky delivers unpredictable, blood-curdling terror.
Each match lasts four rounds total. At the start of each round, two of the eight survivors are randomly chosen to take on the role of a slasher. A new pair of slashers are picked each round until all eight players have had the chance to play as one.
In both versions of Slasher Deathmatch, the survivors win if both slashers are eliminated or if the remaining survivors make it to the end of the round. The slashers win if all survivors are eliminated before the clock runs out. Survivors automatically scream every 30 seconds, so they’ll have to stay on the move if they hope to make it to the end.
New Weapons
Dresden 9mm – SMG (Battle Pass)
- Full-auto submachine gun. Very high damage and manageable recoil. Short range and slower rate of fire.
- A familiar-looking submachine gun makes its Black Ops 6 debut in the Dresden 9mm, a reliable SMG with a steady recoil pattern that helps you stay on target while dishing out solid damage with a manageable rate of fire. The weapon’s quick reload speed minimizes downtown between magazines, offering a strong foundation for Gunsmith when combines with its impressive handling.
Merrick 556 – Assault Rifle (Battle Pass)
- Full-auto assault rifle. Excellent range and highly rewards headshots. Configurable into a high-power semi-auto via barrel attachment.
- The Merrick 556 Assault Rifle is greater than the sums of its parts, a highly capable weapon that combines bite and handling with a respectable rate of fire and clean iron sights.
New Weapon Attachments
GPR91 Double-Barrel Conversion (Event Reward)
- Adds a second barrel to the GPR 91, allowing the weapon to fire two bullets at once, but at a slightly reduced rate of fire and with higher recoil.
New Zombies LTM
Haunted Havoc
Haunted Havoc throws you into a relentless nightmare with lurking Mimics, treat-filled Jack-o’-Lanterns, and the chaos of a forced Rampage Inducer, making zombies faster and more aggressive right from the start. The undead are getting into the Halloween spirit, too, donning pumpkin heads in place of their usual rotting features, their eyes glowing right up to the end as they go down in a fit of evil laughter.
Jump into a Halloween-themed version of Liberty Falls, complete with spooky ambient sounds and new music cues!
- As a Haunting “treat,” zombie health has been reduced until Round 15 for quicker eliminations… but there’s a “trick,” too: their damage output increases much faster than in Standard Zombies. Watch your back!
- Complete Main Quests on each Zombies map to unlock some sweet rewards. For each Main Quest completion, you’ll earn a pack of 5 unique GobbleGums, an Ultra GobbleGum, and 15,000 XP per map!
- Jack-o’-Lanterns: Trick or Treat
- Slain zombies may drop glowing Jack-o’-Lanterns. Loot the pumpkins for the chance to earn powerful rewards ranging from free Ammo Mods and Scorestreaks to Aether Tools and Aether Crystals. The loot gets better as the Rounds get higher, so make sure you stay geared up! It’s not all sweet treats though, as there’s always the chance that an item will turn out to be a Mimic in disguise.
New Events
The Haunting Daily Login (Launch)
- Rewards Include: X52 Resonator Special Weapon, GPMG-7 LMG Muzzle Booster Attachment
- There’s no rest for the vengeful dead. Complete challenges to earn ghostly rewards including the new X52 Resonator Special Weapon and GPMG-7 Muzzle Booster attachment. Plus, keep the scares coming with the “Arty Incineration” Finishing Move, “Blast Burn” Calling Card, “Cool Helm” Weapon Charm, and a Large Decal. Complete the event to unlock the Animated “Toxic Metal” Weapon Camo.

RICOCHET ANTI-CHEAT
Last week, #TeamRICOCHET shared a blog detailing changes coming to our security measures alongside Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. RICOCHET Anti-Cheat is entering its strongest phase yet, powered by advanced machine learning trained on millions of gameplay hours to catch cheaters faster and more reliably. The team is taking an all-fronts approach, from in-game detections to legal actions against cheat makers, and continuing to expand protections against external hardware. This all begins with the implementation of TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot, which has been live since Black Ops 7 Beta kicked off.
For Season 06 of Black Ops 6, we’ve expanded in-game notifications to include additional details about TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot requirements. This update is designed to help players better understand and resolve issues related to their PC’s security configuration.
If you haven’t yet, check out the full blog for a deeper look at what’s new with #TeamRICOCHET and how these upgrades set a new standard for fair play.

CALL OF DUTY: WARZONE
MAPS
New
Verdansk Night Variant
Nighttime descends on Verdansk, shrouding the Battle Royale map in darkness. From the Dam to the Port, Operators must navigate the eerie terrain where threats can emerge from the shadows at any moment. Scouting and communication are key to your survival, so stay sharp and call the shots for a chance to make it to the end.
Rebirth Island Night Variant
Deploy to the infamous prison island well into the night. Fight along the shoreline ambushing enemies from the shadows or climb up the towers or Prison Block rooftop to survey the area from above. Too spooked to explore the frightening exterior? You can always head inside and try your luck by the prison cells.
MODES
New
Casual Z Limited-Time Mode
The undead are spreading across Verdansk and Rebirth Island, invading Battle Royale and Resurgence Casual modes. In Casual Z, Operators must fight both enemy squads and roaming zombie hordes that hunt anything still breathing. These zombies lack the powers seen in Zombie Royale but in overwhelming numbers they’re a deadly threat, especially mid-fight. As with standard Casual modes, progression is limited, and results don’t affect your stats or Resurgence Ranked eligibility.
Returning
Zombie Royale Limited-Time Mode (In-Season)
The fan-favorite Zombie Royale returns for The Haunting, bringing new zombie abilities and map-wide features to the mode where slain Operators return as the undead. The last squad with a living Operator wins.
- Mimic Zombie Ability
- Inspired by Prop Hunt, zombies can now disguise themselves as an item within the environment. When the enemy approaches, reveal your true identity and tear them to pieces. There’s a cooldown between uses, so wait for the right moment to set the bait.
- EMP Blast Zombie Ability
- Disrupt the living and their gear with an area-of-effect attack that destroys equipment and disables vehicles and HUDs within its blast radius while additionally stunning and slowing down nearby human Operators. Launch an attack while they struggle to recover.
- Mutant Injection Zombie Killstreak
- Take your abilities to a new level with the Mutant Injection. This valuable item dropped by slain humans can be activated to temporarily transform the zombie player into a powerful adversary, its effect changing throughout the season.
- Portals Map-Wide Feature
- Traverse large distances in the blink of an eye through portals placed throughout the map. Their effect differs based on the traveler: Human Operators who enter a portal will redeploy in the air away from zombies, while undead travelers will be teleported to a random human Operator who is not part of their squad.
- Haunted Box Field Upgrade
- Found in Supply Boxes or dropped by eliminated Operators, the Haunted Box dispenses items like armor, ammo, equipment, and rare items. Be on guard when using this item, as you never know when the goods will come along with a scare for good measure.
