Divinity Announcement Has Driven Way More People To Larian’s Previous Games

The announcement of Divinity at The Game Awards 2025 had a positive effect on the sales of Baldur’s Gate 3 and Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Swen Vincke, CEO of developer Larian Studios, confirmed this in a post on X in response to someone impressed that Baldur’s Gate 3 hit over 110,000 concurrent players on January 18. Vincke says the sales have been “incredible” for Larian’s legacy titles since Divinity’s announcement, with Divinity: Original Sin 2 in particular having its best month since it launched in 2017.

Divinity was one of the biggest announcements from The Game Awards 2025. Baldur’s Gate 3’s breakout success and a mysterious pre-show tease with a statue in the Californian desert certainly got people intrigued by whatever the studio was doing next. Even Vincke’s controversial statements about AI have kept Divinity in the gaming zeitgeist since its initial announcement.
