Silent Hill f
Estimated reading time: 2 minutes
The first mainline Silent Hill game since the ill-fated launch of PT in 2014 and the lackluster showing of Downpour in 2012. We finally journey back into the world of Silent Hill with a game that is set as a prequel to 1999’s original game.
Silent Hill f was penned by the amazing visual novelist Ryukishi07 who is also known for the mindbending Fantasy Horror Novels Higurashi When They Cry and Umineko When They Cry. With this author at the helm, little doubt comes to mind regarding the forbidding question of “Will it be scary?“
Along with this world-renowned novelist, the game is developed by veterans in the industry that hail from Sony, Activision, Square Enix, Capcom, EA, and Ubisoft to form the Taiwanese Independent studio by the name of NeoBards Entertainment.
With this line-up of players, we understand the true meaning of the name Silent Hill f (Fortissimo). In dynamics, Fortissimo means to play the note louder than the previous notes. This makes the trailer for this game a perfect example of that dynamic as the unknown schoolgirl runs up the stairs with the piano and chromatically ascends to the eerie silence. A great use of music to explain that the f can also play on the fact that this is the Fifth game in the series.
Hope is that we will get more information as the days move closer to the rumored Sony State of Play at the end of May 2023 or early June 2023 as Konami has also been rumored to be using that as a showcase for upcoming titles.
