Jamie Lee Curtis has issued a public apology after recent comments about the state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe went viral.
While promoting the upcoming Borderlands movie in an interview with MTV, the Oscar-winning actress was asked what phase is Marvel in right now, to which she replied “bad.”

As you’d expect the comment went viral online, which prompted the Everything Everywhere All At Once star to apologize not only on social media, but directly to Marvel chief Kevin Feige.
“My comments about Marvel were stupid and I will do better,” Jamie Lee Curtis tweeted. “I’ve reached out to Kevin Feige and will no longer play in that mud slinging sandbox of competition we call the internet nor will I engage in the toilet paper promotion or game play that is designed for clicks not content or conversation.”
Marvel Studios co-president Louis D’Esposito and MCU leader Kevin Feige have acknowledged that the studio has been going through a bit of a rough patch, but that they hoped to regain lost ground by “coming back strong” with the recent release of Deadpool & Wolverine.
Disney has also announced plans for Marvel to release no more than three movies and two shows annually from now on, with Deadpool & Wolverine — which sees Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth team up with Hugh Jackman’s clawed X-Man — being the only MCU movie to come out in theaters this year.

Indeed the state of the MCU is a running joke in Deadpool & Wolverine, with Deadpool commenting that Wolverine joins the fray at a low point.
Of course, Marvel will be celebrating after Deadpool & Wolverine’s record-breaking success. It’s achieved the largest R-rated global box office opening ever with a staggering $438.3 million and the eighth-biggest domestic weekend box office debut of all time, with ticket sales reaching $205 million. It also helped Marvel Studios cross $30 billion at the global box office.
Borderlands, meanwhile, launches August 8. It stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black, in a Guardians of the Galaxy-style adventure based on the Gearbox-developed video game.
