Every Mortal Kombat 1 Animality So Far, In Case You Want To Lose Your Lunch
Mortal Kombat 1 expands this week with the release of its Khaos Reigns expansion, as Liu Kang and his chosen warriors continue the battle for peace in the New Era timeline. Similarly to Mortal Kombat 11’s Aftermath expansion, Khaos Reigns will add new characters and storylines to the game, but it’s the return of animalities that look like they’ll be stealing the spotlight.
Just like fatalities, these finishers are Mortal Kombat 1 at its gruesome best. Developer NetherRealm has one for every character in the game, and so far, they range from hilariously gory to pure nightmare fuel. Most of these have been revealed already, and we’ve listed them below.
You can check back later to see an updated list soon–if you have the stomach for it–and if you’re interested in trying them out for yourself, animalities will be available for free to all Mortal Kombat 1 players.
Cyrax
Wasps are scientifically regarded as being the absolute worst, so you can only imagine how things become even more exponentially terrible when a gigantic one decides to snack on your face.

General Shao
General Shao believes in the right to bear arms, and he’s putting them to good use in this brutal animality.

Homelander
If you thought a deeply flawed human who won the superpower lottery was bad enough, wait until you see him become even deadlier as a homicidal griffin.

Johnny Cage
Considering that Mortal Kombat 1 features an homage to Indiana Jones, it seemed only natural for Johnny Cage to reference Jaws for his animality.

Kenshi
Kenshi takes “wolfing down” a snack to new extremes in Mortal Kombat 1.

Kitana
Easily the most creatively gruesome animality on this list, Kitana’s hummingbird transformation is fast, lethal, and keen for a literal bloodbath.

Liu Kang
We’ve seen Liu Kang shape-shift into a dragon in previous games, but for Mortal Kombat 1, his rebirth as the god-like protector of Earthrealm has given him a phoenix transformation that feels just right. Unless you’re being embraced by his fiery wings, that is.

Omni-Man
In a nice nod to the Invincible comics, Omni-Man becomes one of the very monsters he regularly stops, taking the time to stomp on his opponent and give them a taste-test.

Peacemaker
Is Peacemaker’s over-the-top animality the silliest? Absolutely. Is it also the best? Double-absolutely.

Quan Chi
Clearly a Jurassic Park fan, Quan Chi unleashes his inner T-Rex skeleton and he attempts to digest his opponent in this darkly funny finisher.

Raiden
A throwback to Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Raiden once again transforms into an electric eel for a shocking–and explosive–knockout.

Reptile
What, you thought Reptile would become a bigger reptile? Nope! Instead, we get treated to the Mortal Kombat 1 version of Little Shop of Horrors with this gruesome animality.

Shang Tsung
Of course, Shang Tsung would take the form of a snake. What else would you expect from the notorious trickster?

Sindel
If you suffer from a severe case of arachnophobia, you’re going to want to yeet your TV into oblivion the second you find yourself matched up against Sindel.

Sub-Zero
The ruffian of Mortal Kombat 1 becomes a wooly bully when he uses his animality, and he uses that extra power to get straight to the point.
