A new Nintendo Direct is coming on Aug. 27

Nintendo will broadcast a new Nintendo Direct presentation on Tuesday, Aug. 27, a two-part stream that’s one half Partner Showcase, one half Indie World. That means you can expect the new Nintendo Direct’s focus to be on games from major third-party publishers and games from smaller, independent developers.

Tuesday’s Nintendo Direct/Indie World stream will run for roughly 40 minutes and will start at 10 a.m. EDT/7 a.m. PDT. The showcase will stream on Nintendo’s YouTube and Twitch channels. And before you get your hopes up for a random Tuesday reveal of the Switch 2, Nintendo says, “there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during either of these presentations.”

Instead, expect details on games for Nintendo Switch that aren’t coming directly from Nintendo itself. That could include upcoming third-party games like Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, Sonic X Shadow Generations, Yars Rising, Gundam Breaker 4, and the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection.

The “Switch 2” is reportedly coming sometime in early 2025, and we may not hear official details from Nintendo on that next-gen console until this fall or winter. Until Switch 2 arrives, owners of the original Switch will need to sustain themselves on upcoming games like The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Super Mario Party Jamboree, Mario & Luigi: Brothership, and Metroid Prime 4 — which is not a bad list!
