Barbie Digital Release Date Finally Confirmed

Blockbuster hit Barbie is heading to digital on September 12, Warner Bros. Pictures has announced.

The film was reportedly due to hit the likes of Prime Video today, September 5, but Warner Bros. didn’t give any official word until now when it confirmed the premiere date next week. Barbie will be available for “premium digital ownership” or for 48-hour rental at participating digital platforms.

Barbie has been a huge success since it debuted July 21, with its global box office takings making director Greta Gerwig the first female director to cross the $1 billion mark.

The film stars Margot Robbie as Stereotypical Barbie — a Barbie who heads to the real world to discover the joys and perils of being human. She’s joined by America Ferrera, Ariana Greenblatt, Connor Swindells, Jamie Demetriou, and Will Ferrell who plays the CEO of Mattel. Ryan Gosling plays Ken.

IGN’s Barbie review gave it 9/10 and said Barbie is “a masterful exploration of femininity and the pressures of perfection”.
