Black Panther’s Letitia Wright Teases Shuri’s Potential MCU Return

Black Panther star Letitia Wright has teased the possibility of returning to her role as Shuri in the future, saying there is “a lot coming up” on the MCU slate.

During a recent appearance on The View, Wright reflected on 2018’s Black Panther and its 2022 sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, citing Shuri as one of her “favorite characters” to play. The actress hinted that a return could be on the cards for her but remained tight-lipped about when and where she might pop up.

“Let’s just say… I would like to continue with Shuri,” Wright said after being quizzed about the possibility of reprising the role in the Marvel universe again (especially with two new Avengers movies coming up). “She’s one of my favorite characters. Such a blessing, honestly. I kid you not. I’m so grateful for her.”

When asked about Black Panther 3 specifically, Wright coyly responded: “There’s a lot to, a lot to — a lot coming up.”

Wright made her MCU debut as Shuri, T’Challa’s sister and Wakanda’s resident tech genius, in Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther and reprised the role in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. She then returned for Wakanda Forever, taking over the eponymous superhero role from her late co-star Chadwick Boseman.

Marvel has not yet confirmed a third installment of Black Panther, but a return to Wakanda is on the horizon. The studio previously announced an animated series titled Eyes of Wakanda, which will premiere on Disney+ and tell the story of Wakandan warriors travelling the world to recover dangerous vibranium artifacts.

Avengers 5 (formerly Avengers: The Kang Dynasty) is on the calendar for May 1, 2026, while Avengers: Secret Wars has a release date of May 7, 2027. Marvel is apparently “cooking up a storm” on the first of the new Avengers entries, which, according to Deadline, could see “more than 60 MCU characters” back in action.

Both Avengers movies will be part of the MCU’s Phase Six, bringing the Multiverse Saga to a close.
