Stone reportedly closed the deal to reprise her role as Cruella in the sequel back in 2021 and, while we don’t know anything about the plot of the new film, it was shared that director Craig Gillespie and screenwriter Tony McNamara will be returning as well.

Cruella, which was the origin story for the 101 Dalmations antagonist, had a strong performance at the box office with a worldwide total of $233.5 million. Furthermore, this second film was said to be in development just a week after the original hit theaters.

In our Cruella review, we said its “gonzo fashion, complicated characters, and truly bonkers backstory are compromised by obligations to be kid-friendly and its time-consuming need to over-explain everything it does.”
