Deadpool & Wolverine Shows 9 Minutes of Footage at CinemaCon: ‘Suck it Fox, We’re Going to Disneyland’

For anyone who worried that Disney taking over the Deadpool film franchise would lead to a watered-down version of the series’ violence, profanity, and fourth-wall-breaking knocks, put those worries to rest: Deadpool & Wolverine is very much a Deadpool movie.

On stage at CinemaCon 2024, Marvel’s Kevin Feige even got in the Deadpool spirit himself, dropping F-bomb after F-bomb on stage as he introduced the first nine minutes of Deadpool & Wolverine. “It’s fucking awesome,” Feige said, adding that he’s allowed to say that because the movie is rated R. Then, the CinemaCon audience got to watch the first nine minutes of Deadpool & Wolverine, and while we can’t show you the footage, we can tell you about everything we saw.

The segment kicked off with Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson out of the superhero game, selling used cars. While on a test drive with a family, Wilson keeps saying inappropriate things like, “Not that I didn’t want to have [kids]. I just haven’t had a lot of vaginal sex.”

After briefly seeing that Wade still keeps his Deadpool outfit in his locker, Wade and Rob Delaney’s Peter head back the one bedroom apartment Wade splits with Blind Al, where they walk in on a surprise birthday party. There’s some banter that includes a ton of nicknames and euphemisms for cocaine, followed by Wade saying he’s “the luckiest man alive” to be surrounded by the people he loves.

And speaking of fourth-wall breaks: Wade says at one point, “Hey, cocaine is the one thing Feige said is off limits!”

Wade’s party is interrupted by a knock at the door, and this is the clip from the Deadpool & Wolverine teaser trailer where Wade says “pegging isn’t new for me, friendo. But it is for Disney.” Wade is taken by members of the Time Variance Authority and wakes up in the TVA office with Mr. Paradox, who Deadpool teases for giving too much exposition.

“Cocaine is the one thing Feige said is off limits!

Paradox explains that Deadpool can save the sacred timeline, and the monitors show clips of the Avengers, including a shot from the distant future of Thor crying over Deadpool. Paradox tells Deadpool he’s about to give him everything he’s wanted, and Deadpool responds: “Suck it, Fox. We’re going to Disneyland!” and puts on his new costume.

After that, Marvel shared a sizzle reel of extended trailer footage, including Deadpool and Wolverine in his yellow suit. Deadpool says, “Friends don’t let friends leave the house dressed like they look like they play for the Los Angeles Rams,” and the footage ends with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine telling Deadpool to fuck off.

We’re just a few months away from Deadpol & Wolverine’s release on July 26, 2024. Elsewhere at CinemaCon 2024, we got our first look at Jackman’s Wolverine in the character’s iconic cowl courtesy of a cup fans spotted at the event.
