Deadpool & Wolverine might not be the “best” of friends, but Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman certainly are, as they have both taken to social media to celebrate their latest movie together.
The highly anticipated trailer for Deadpool 3 premiered during a Super Bowl LVIII commercial break, offering fans a closer look at Wade Wilson’s foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his old buddy, Wolverine. However, the clawed crusader is left in the shadows (literally) as he appears as a silhouette in the footage.
While we’re sure the pair have plenty of multiversal shenanigans ahead of them, their friendship might be over before it’s even begun. Jackman shared a poster for Deadpool & Wolverine on X/Twitter, showing two halves of a heart with the character’s signature costumes and colors on each opposing side to make up a charm.
“‘Best’ is a stretch. So is ‘friends,'” Jackman joked in the caption of his post, while Reynolds innocently shared the same image with no reference to his apparent frenemy. Instead, he took the opportunity to build up hype for the movie’s summer rollout in theaters, teasing, “Wait till you see the Deadpool popcorn bucket.” (That’s a reference to Dune 2’s infamous popcorn bucket.)

Friends that laugh together stay together, and while that may be unfortunate for Wolverine, Jackman continued to see the funny side with the Deadpool & Wolverine announcements. He posted an edited version of the movie’s logo, which read “Wolverine & Asshole,” claiming that he had “fixed” the title for the MCU entry.

Jackman and Reynolds previously commemorated the end of production on their joint superhero venture, but those messages were much more heartfelt. It seems like their friendship will be put to the ultimate test when Deadpool & Wolverine join forces for their “raw, audacious, very much R-rated” big-screen outing on July 26.
