Dexter: Original Sin Steelbook Blu-Ray Revealed – Catch Up Before Dexter: Resurrection

Everyone’s favorite serial killer-killing serial killer is set to return once again with a new Showtime series, Dexter: Resurrection. No premiere date has been announced for the new series, but principle photography kicked off in January 2025, so it’s only a matter of time before Dexter starts hunting again. In the meantime, fans will soon be able to complete their Dexter Blu-ray collection by adding the recent prequel miniseries, Dexter: Original Sin, to their shelves. Preorders for Dexter: Original Sin’s Steelbook Edition are discounted to $34.15 at Amazon (normally $38) ahead of its June 10 release.

The Dexter: Original Sin Steelbook is a three-disc Blu-ray collection that includes all 10 episodes of the series and a featurette titled “Dissecting Dexter: Original Sin,” which sounds like it will dive into the creation of the prequel.
Like prior Dexter physical editions, Original Sin is only available on standard Blu-ray and DVD. Along with 1080p HD resolution, the Blu-ray discs support 5.1 Dolby TrueHD audio.
Due to Amazon’s current discount, Steelbook Edition preorders only cost two bucks more than the standard Blu-ray edition ($32). Original Sin will also be available on DVD at launch, with preorders available for $24.49.
Dexter: Original Sin is a prequel set several years before the events of the original Dexter series, and gives audiences a deeper look at Dexter Morgan’s (Patrick Gibson) transformation into the serial-killer-with-a-moral-code audiences know and love while also starting his career as a forensic investigator for the Miami Dade County Police Department. The show also stars Christian Slater as Dexter’s adoptive father, Harry Morgan, while the original Dexter Morgan actor Michael C. Hall narrates the show.

It’s worth noting that while Dexter: Original Sin is a prequel, it uses the ending of the sequel series, Dexter: New Blood, as a framing for the series, so it’s worth checking that out first before you start New Blood. While the first novel served as the basis for the original show and the last novel inspired New Blood, many events in the books differ from the TV show, and both storylines end up in wildly different places by the end.
