Disney has announced a first-of-its-kind podcast series that will serve as a sequel to Frozen 2 that will hopefully make the wait for Frozen 3 just a little bit easier.
The podcast is called Disney’s Frozen: Forces of Nature and it will be released in Fall 2023 on all major podcast services like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Amazon Music. The podcast arrives just in time for Frozen’s 10th anniversary and each of its 12 episodes will run roughly 20 minutes. As previously mentioned, this marks the first time Disney is choosing to tell new stories in its beloved worlds in podcast form, though it remains unclear if this will tie directly into the events of the next Frozen or will just be a nice side-story that kids of all ages can enjoy. Disney also hasn’t confirmed one way or another if other properties like The Lion King, Toy Story, Cars, or The Litle Mermaid will be getting this treatment in the future.
Speaking of kids, Disney’s Frozen: Forces of Nature podcast is aimed at kids 6-12 and stars Queen Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff, and other new and familiar faces. If you are curious what the show is about, the official description gives a nice tease:
“Queen Anna has a lot on her plate – there are visitors in her Kingdom, a friend in need, and even the Duke of Weselton’s nephew skulking around – so when the Spirits of Nature start acting up, she knows she has to solve the problem – and fast – before things get more out of control,” THe official description reads. “But when Anna and Elsa travel to the Enchanted Forest, they find mysterious copper machines that are disrupting the natural order of things. Who made these machines and what are they doing in the forest? And more importantly, how do Anna and Elsa stop them?”
As for Frozen 3, Disney CEO Bob Iger did confirm it was in the works alongside Toy Story 5 and Zootopia 2, but we haven’t learned anything official since that was revealed back in February 2023. There are many around the world, including Anna voice actor Kristen Bell, who can’t wait for it to finally arrive.
