Dune: Part 2 New Trailer Previews War in Arrakis, Romance, and Lots of Sandworms

Dune: Part Two released a jam-packed new trailer on Tuesday, showing Arrakis in all-out war.

The beefy, two-minute-plus trailer is the best look we’ve gotten yet at the sequel, and with the pieces set in place in the Denis Villeneuve’s first film, Dune: Part Two will be able to fully revel in the planetary war. We get a preview of some of those intense scenes, as well as, of course, lots and lots of big ol’ sandworms.

It’s not all war, however, as we also get a quick look at the romance between Timothee Chalamet’s Paul Atreides and Zendaya’s Chani. Elsewhere in the trailer, there are some fresh looks at new cast members like Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan Corrino, Austin Butler as the “psychotic” Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, and Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV.

Dune: Part Two will be released on March 1, having recently been pushed up by two weeks. It was previously set to be released on November 3, 2023, but was delayed in August amid the then-ongoing Hollywood actors’ strike.

It no doubt would’ve been one of the buzzier movies of the fall, but Chalamet fans still at least have Wonka coming out this weekend. Plus, Villeneuve recently teased his plans for more possible Dune movies in the future, saying he’s “almost finished” with a script for Dune 3.

IGN gave 2021’s Dune a 7/10, with Scott Collura calling it “a gorgeous but imperfect epic, a technical wonder that spends too much time setting up a third act that never comes.”
