Fallout 4: Every New Item In The Next-Gen Update

The next-gen update in Fallout 4 delivered an incredible amount of content for a nearly 10-year-old game. There are seven new quests, two sets of Power Armor, several weapons, and other cosmetics you can find and use in the Commonwealth. All of the content is enjoyable to explore and unlock, and it’s certainly a reason to come back to Fallout 4 all these years later.

We have full guides on how to complete all of the main quests, including a comprehensive walkthrough on Echoes of the Past, but today we’re going to do a rundown on every new piece of content with the next-gen update. This includes images of the new content as well as a brief description of where to find them and what you can do with the items in Fallout 4.

X-02 Power Armor

The X-02 Power Armor set is arguably one of the stronger sets you can find throughout your time in Fallout 4. It has terrific stats, looks extremely intimidating, and is relatively simple to find. However, you will have to complete the entirety of the “Speak of the Devil” quest to loot the X-02 Power Armor. The quest involves re-walking the steps of a man who’s trying to figure out more about a mysterious character called the “Black Devil.” The Enclave is slightly involved with this side quest, and it’s one of the better ones you can complete from the next-gen update.

Hellfire Power Armor

Next up, we have another set of Power Armor, this time the Hellfire set. You can loot this Power Armor by completing the side quest called “Pyromaniac,” which is far simpler to finish than Speak of the Devil. All you have to do for this one is reach the location of a man named Pyro, kill him, and then loot the Hellfire Power Armor parts off his body. Be careful, though, as Pyro has a Napalmer and he’s not afraid to wield it to completely wipe out your HP in a couple of seconds.

Enclave Hellfire Power Armor

The final new set of Power Armor is a version of the Hellfire set, but made for the Enclave faction. The Enclave is at the center of the next-gen update, finally making an appearance after a long absence in the Commonwealth. I was able to loot my set of Enclave Hellfire Power Armor by defeating the first enemy in the Echoes of the Past quest, but you can find multiple sets of the Power Armor throughout the various quests in the next-gen update. The Enclave Hellfire Power Armor isn’t as strong as the X-02 or regular Hellfire sets, but it does have a nice black finish.

Tesla Cannon

Now, we have the new weapons from the next-gen update. First on the list is the extremely powerful Tesla Cannon, which uses Fusion Cells to shock your enemies to death. The Tesla Cannon is one of the stronger weapons in Fallout 4, can be reloaded instantly, and takes a common ammo type. You can acquire it through one of two ways, but the primary method is through completing the Best of Three side quest. A second Tesla Cannon is also available through the Echoes of the Past quest. Either way you get it, you likely won’t ever want to put it away, as it’s easily one of the more satisfying guns in the Commonwealth.

Heavy Incinerator

The next major weapon added in Fallout 4 is the Ghoul Slayer’s Heavy Incinerator. This acts like an upgraded version of the Napalmer, shooting balls of fire at your enemies and burning them in the process. The Heavy Incinerator isn’t as fun to use as the Tesla Cannon, but it can make quick work of your opponents, especially if they’re in Power Armor. This weapon is earned through the Crucible side quest in the next-gen update, which can be somewhat tricky to complete.

Fat Man Piggy Launcher

The final distinct weapon added in the next-gen update is a Fat Man that shoots Piggy Mines at your opponents. Earned through “Pigs Can Fly” quest, this Fat Man requires some special ammunition that you can find plenty of while completing its specific side quest. The weapon works like a normal Fat Man, but you won’t cause as much of an explosion with it compared to the normal version that shoots Mini-Nukes. Instead, the Piggy Mines blow up quickly and scatter coins everywhere.

Chinese Grenade Launcher, Baseball Launcher, Saw Blade Launcher, Pipe Grenade Launcher

There are three other grenade launchers available through the Pigs Can Fly quest in Fallout 4. The Chinese Grenade Launcher is gifted to you after completing the quest, the Pipe Grenade Launcher Rifle and Saw Blade Launcher are found during the course of the quest, and the Baseball Launcher needs to be looted from an enemy at the end of the quest. The Chinese Launcher and Pipe Grenade Launcher require Frag ammunition to use while the Baseball Launcher shoots modified baseballs that act as grenades and the Saw Blade Launcher takes saws.

De-Capitalist Helmet

The De-Capitalist Helmet is a small addition in the next-gen update, but it’s a welcome one for long-time fans of the Fallout franchise. This Power Armor helmet has been seen before in other games, and it finally comes to Fallout 4. You can acquire the helmet through the “All Hallow’s Eve” quest, but you’ll have to find and loot it for yourself, as it’s not part of a quest objective. The helmet is located in the final room of the quest.

Halloween-Themed Cosmetics

Speaking of the All Hallow’s Eve quest, completing it not only rewards you with XP and some other items, but you also unlock a special Creation Club section of the settlement workshop. If you open your workshop and scroll to the end, you’ll find the Creation Club section. Clicking on it and then scrolling over to the Halloween icon lets you see 38 spooky-themed decorations you can place in your settlement. This includes ghosts, a witch, specimen jars, and more.

Enclave-Themed Cosmetics

Finally, if you fully complete the Echoes of the Past quest, you’ll gain access to a separate part of the Creation Club section in the workshop. This is simply called the Enclave section, and it’s filled with branded items for your settlement. You have decorations, such as flags, and defense items, including an assortment of barricades and laser turrets. You also gain access to an Enclave Power Armor paint, so you can be fully decked out in the faction’s colors.

As a note, all of this content is unlocked by visiting the Enclave Encampments following the Echoes of the Past quest. Our full walkthrough has details on how to unlock this specific content.
