Estimated reading time: 5 minutes
Fallout Season 2
Prime Video’s Fallout TV series was released on April 11 and earned positive reviews from critics and fans, and its release helped boost player numbers in a number of Fallout games. Despite the show’s apparent success, and a dramatic Season 1 finale episode that provided a tantalizing tease for what could come next, Prime Video has yet to renew the show.
A second season seems likely, though, and it could just be a matter of time before Prime Video makes things official and gives the green light to the sophomore installment. While we wait, we’re rounding up all the information we have so far on a potential Season 2, including news about a change in filming locations and what the key creatives are hoping to achieve in Season 2.
If Fallout Season 2 gets made, it seems like it could take the show to new and exciting places with more story development to unravel. Scroll through the gallery below to get up to date with all the key information we know so far about a potential Fallout Season 2. Keep in mind, though, in discussing a potential Season 2, we are going to reveal spoilers for Season 1.
Is Fallout Season 2 confirmed?
Prime Video has not yet officially renewed Fallout for a second season. While many expect that to happen, it hasn’t yet, and as such, Fallout is in a state of limbo currently. There is no set playbook for how Hollywood studios announce renewal orders. Sometimes it happens right away, and other times it can take some time, for any number of reasons. The fact that Fallout hasn’t yet been renewed for a second season doesn’t necessarily mean anything at all about whether it will happen down the road. Keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest.
The first evidence of Fallout Season 2 came from the California Film Commission. The organization recently revealed that Fallout could move production to California for Season 2 for tax break purposes, though nothing is confirmed at this point.
Where will Fallout Season 2 air?
If Fallout is renewed for a second season, it will stream on Prime Video (barring any kind of wild and unforeseen change that no one is expecting). As such, you will need a Prime Video or Amazon Prime membership to stream Season 2, if it gets made.
What is the release date for Fallout Season 2?
Prime Video has not officially ordered a second season of Fallout, so it’s too soon to say when a potential second season could arrive. If the production were to get off the ground anytime soon, it still wouldn’t be until sometime in 2025, at the earliest, until we’ll see new episodes.
Is there a trailer for Fallout Season 2?
There is no trailer for Fallout Season 2 as of yet, in part because Fallout Season 2 has not been announced, nor has production even begun (at least that we know of publicly).
What is Fallout Season 2’s story?
Fallout Season 1 ended in dramatic fashion, with a big reveal in the finale that sets up what’s to come if the show is renewed for a second season. For lots more, be sure to read GameSpot’s Fallout Season 1 finale breakdown, but note that it’s full of spoilers. In short, though, the writers clearly have plans for where the story could go in a second season, and those who watched and enjoyed Season 1 are no doubt hopeful the show returns so they can get some answers.
Jonathan Nolan, the executive producer of Fallout, said recently that he and the team had a single vision in Season 1, and that was to create a “terrific season of television.” But he admitted he was also thinking about “where your story could take you” in a second season.
“So we have been talking from the beginning about how this would develop and evolve in subsequent seasons, if we should be so lucky,” he said.
Nolan went on to say that there is “one locale in particular” that he would be excited to explore if Fallout was renewed for a second season. He did not say what this location is, but many believe it’s New Vegas after a character was revealed to be heading there in the Season 1 finale.
Co-showrunner Graham Wagner added that Season 2 could feature Deathclaws, which are genetically created creatures in the Fallout lore. The team wanted to have Deathclaws in Season 1, but decided to save them for Season 2 “to be able to do it properly.”
“So Season 2, we’re very excited to finally tackle one of the most iconic elements of the games,” Wagner said.
The other co-showrunner, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, said the team was tempted to try a “kitchen sink approach” and put many more Fallout elements into Season 1, but opted to save some for Season 2.
“We didn’t want to see the show to seem like it was written by people who just like spent 10 seconds reading the Wikipedia page for Fallout and didn’t bother to like bring in some deeper cuts,” Robertson-Dworet said.
Who’s in the cast for Fallout Season 2?
Fallout Season 2 is likely to bring back Ella Purnell as Lucy, Walton Goggins as The Ghoul, and Kyle MacLachlan as Overseer Hank. TV shows normally add cast members for ensuing seasons, but it remains to be seen who may join the cast for Season 2.
