Despite massive success, a new report states 2023’s Hogwarts Legacy won’t receive an expansion or a Definitive Edition re-release originally planned for later this year. Neither of these projects had been officially announced.

Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who previously reported on the existence of a planned Definitive Edition and expansion for Hogwarts Legacy, states Warner Bros. Discovery is canceling both as part of the ongoing reorganization of its video game division. The expansion would have introduced new storylines to the popular open-world Harry Potter RPG, with the Definitive Edition slated to bundle together the base game, expansion, and other DLC content.

The cancellation comes out of Warner Bros’. concern that the amount of content planned for the expansion wasn’t enough to justify its asking price, according to Bloomberg’s sources. Despite the cancellation of the expansion, Hogwarts Legacy developer Avalanche Software is still reported to be working on a sequel.
