PS5’s Game Help Feature Expands Expands With Auto-Recorded Clips To Help Others
Sony is expanding the PlayStation Game Help program that launched in 2020 and aims to help players get the help they need when trying to complete a game.Launching later this year is “Community Game Help,” which expands the library of game hints and adds automatically generated user videos to help players out.Sony game studios, like Naughty Dog and Insomniac, already create their own hint videos for games like The Last of Us Part II Remastered and Spider-Man 2. But going forward, players can opt in to a new system that automatically captures a video when players complete certain objectives in a given game. These videos will be reviewed by a moderator and uploaded as a “Game Hint” if they are approved. Sony noted that videos will be scrubbed from your SSD when they are uploaded to Sony’s servers, so you don’t have to worry about storage space. Here’s what Community Game Help looks likePlayers do not need to edit or upload their clips manually, as the system does all of this automatically. Sony also noted that only “raw game footage” is uploaded. Things like images and audio from your webcam, microphone, or party chat audio are not shared with the moderation team or the community at large. However, items shown on your game screen–including account names and messages–are captured. Here is how to to opt in to the program:Go to [Captures & Broadcasts] >[Captures] > [Auto Captures] > [Community Game Help], then select [Participate] to opt in to the program. You can also select the monthly capture limit to control how many videos you will allow to be captured from your gameplay per month. To opt out, players can follow the same instructions and choose to opt out instead. Doing so will remove any video uploaded by your account to the Community Game Help hub.Community Game Help launches for “select games” later this year, and Sony said the aim is to expand it to “as many titles as possible” in the future.Players can, of course, continue to go to YouTube and countless other websites that offer game guides to get the help they’re looking for. If you’re currently playing Dragon’s Dogma 2 and need some assistance getting started, you can check out GameSpot’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 guide hub.
