How to pre-order Mario Kart World

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

Mario Kart World, the first new entry in the franchise in over a decade, arrives as the flagship launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5. While Nintendo is offering this highly anticipated game as part of a $499.99 bundle that includes the new console, Mario Kart World is also available to pre-order as a standalone purchase for $79.99 from Walmart, Best Buy, GameStop, and Target. (Note: GameStop online pre-orders don’t open until 11 a.m. EDT.)

This latest Mario Kart entry still features all of the ridiculously fast-paced, shell-chucking racing we’ve come to expect, but Mario Kart World also introduces an open world for you to explore with different regions that feature dynamic weather conditions and a day-night cycle. In addition to exploring in a free-roam mode, you can compete in a classic Grand Prix race, or in a Knockout Tour, a new battle royale mode that strings a series of courses together with players being eliminated at a series of checkpoints.

Mario Kart World and many other games will be hitting shelves June 5 — the same day as the Switch 2 console itself. The Switch 2 is available to pre-order now for $449.99 through Best BuyWalmartGameStop, and more retailers, along with plenty of other Switch 2 games, Switch 2 accessories, and new Zelda amiibo.
