Iconic Perfect Dark Dev Says He “Would’ve Loved” To Work On The Reboot

Joanna Dark won’t be jamming out to music from one of Perfect Dark’s original composers. That’s because Grant Kirkhope has revealed on social media that he isn’t involved with the upcoming reboot from developers The Initiative and Crystal Dynamics.

GamesRadar noticed that Kirkhope voiced his desire to work on the new Perfect Dark on X (formerly known as Twitter). The composer–who’s known for creating the DK Rap as well as GoldenEye 007’s pause music–wrote a post that said: “I would’ve loved to have scored the new Perfect Dark, alas it wasn’t to be.”

Additionally, in a follow-up post on X, Kirkhope revealed that he “demoed for [the Perfect Dark reboot], but they chose someone else.” Most recently, the composer has worked on Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and the Yooka-Laylee franchise. Last year, Kirkhope admitted he’s not convinced people want another Banjo-Kazooie game, a franchise he previously worked on as well.
