Joker: Folie à Deux Trailer Seemingly Confirms Return of Legendary Batman Villain Harvey Dent
Estimated reading time: 2 minutes
The latest trailer for Joker: Folie à Deux features a hidden detail that seemingly confirms the return of a major Batman villain.
The trailer showcases the wild world of the much-anticipated sequel as Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) finds himself institutionalized at Arkham, awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker. He gets transported in a van, where he catches a line of dialogue on the radio, saying: “They believe Arthur Fleck to be some kind of martyr.”
It is initially unclear who the voice belongs to as we do not see the face of the person speaking. However, DiscussingFilm shared a screenshot of the moment with the closed captions turned on (when that option was still available), revealing that the person saying the line is legendary DC villain Harvey Dent, AKA Two-Face.

Many suspected Dent would be involved in the sequel in some capacity, as early set photos dropped his name into the mix. One snap saw a crowd of Gotham citizens gathered on the steps of what looked like a courthouse, seemingly standing in protest while holding up hand-painted signs, one of which reads: “Dent is the Clown.”
Aside from being the prominent District Attorney of Gotham City, Dent is known best as his alter ego, Two-Face, who last appeared in Christopher Nolan’s iconic 2008 film, The Dark Knight. Whether or not we see Two-Face in Joker: Folie à Deux is yet to be seen, but it seems likely that Dent is the one to put Arthur Fleck behind bars.
Joker: Folie à Deux will be released in theaters on October 4 and is part of DC Elseworlds, which will live outside James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU.
