Mark Wahlberg Says Uncharted 2 Has a Finished Script

Uncharted star Mark Wahlberg has said the script for the second film has already been written despite no official word on a sequel to the Tom Holland-starring adaptation.

In an interview with The Direct, Mark Wahlberg briefly discussed Uncharted 2, saying it’s still being developed and is exploring a few different routes.

“I’ve heard lots of different ideas. I know somebody’s written a script, and they’re still working on it, and it would consist of having the mustache the whole entire time,” Wahlberg said. “Which completely makes sense; obviously, in that final scene, I have the mustache.”

In the film, Wahlberg plays Victor “Sully” Sulivan, an experienced treasure hunter who recruits Holland’s character, Nathan Drake, to aid him in a heist. Wahlberg’s mention of the mustache references that, unlike the video game character on which his character is based, he did not have a mustache until the film’s post-credits scene.

The Uncharted movie was released in 2022 as more of a prequel to the Naughty Dog action adventure series instead of a direct adaptation. The film proved quite successful for Sony Pictures, hitting $139 million at the global box office during its opening weekend. Shortly after, Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group Chairman and CEO Tom Rothman said Uncharted was “a new hit movie franchise for the company“.

Producer Charles Roven expressed interest in making a sequel in August 2022, saying he is “definitely looking” to adapt the adventures of Nathan Drake and Sully further for the big screen.
