We gave Dead Reckoning Part One an 8 in our review, stating that it “sees Tom Cruise’s anti-algorithm crusade take hilariously literal form, in a fun, intense and self-reflexive action saga that works despite itself.” It’s filled with plenty of exciting moments that are absolutely worth rewatching at home, especially that train sequence.
This film is one of several new releases that are available to preorder right now. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is one that’s up for preorder at the moment in 4K as well, with a release date of September 5. There’s also Transformers: Rise of the Beasts on Blu-ray that’s available to preorder, with a release date of October 10, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on Blu-ray and 4K (with a very fun steelbook case), which releases on August 1.
There are also several TV shows that are worth picking up for your physical media collection right now. One that was recently released this month in 4K is HBO’s The Last of Us TV show, which is definitely worth buying. Coming up there’s also the Star Trek: Picard Legacy Collection in October that’s a must-have purchase for any Star Trek fan, and so many others. You can see these shows and films, and many more, in our breakdown of upcoming 4K and Blu-ray release dates.
