Nicolas Cage Has a Disappointing Update for Those Hoping For National Treasure 3

Nicolas Cage has a disappointing update for those hoping for a National Treasure 3, bluntly saying, “No, there is no National Treasure 3.”

Speaking to Screen Rant, Cage shared a few words about the project that was reportedly in development at Disney back in 2020 with the creatives behind Bad Boys for Life.

“Here we go! See, you’re the one that brings these things up and they go out and they eclipse everything else,” Cage said. “No, there is no National Treasure 3. If you want to find treasure, don’t look at Disney, okay? It’s not there.”

Rumors of National Treasure 3 have been circulating since 2008, with reports saying that Gates and crew would be heading on a treasure hunt to Atlantis. There were even said to be plans for a fourth entry as well.

This unfortunate news joins 2023’s confirmation that National Treasure: Edge of History was being cancelled before a Nicolas Cage cameo could ever happen. While Cage never made an appearance, Justin Bartha’s Riley Poole and Harvey Keitel’s Peter Sadusky did.

We may not see Cage as Benjamin Franklin Gates anytime soon, but fans can check him out in Arcadian as a father living in a near future where normal life on Earth has been “decimated” and he and his son are always in danger.
