Pamela Anderson Joins Cast Of Liam Neeson’s Naked Gun Remake

Pamela Anderson, Baywatch actress and 90s icon, will star alongside Taken actor Liam Neeson in Paramount Picture’s upcoming The Naked Gun remake.

While Anderson’s role in The Naked Gun film is currently unknown, we do know a bunch about the funny folks behind Paramount Picture’s reboot of the irreverent 1988 slapstick comedy. The untitled Naked Gun reboot will be directed and executively produced by Lonely Island’s Akiva Schaffer who penned its draft script alongside Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers writers Dan Gregor and Doug Man. The film is being produced by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane’s production company, Fuzzy Door.

The Naked Gun follows Lieutenant Frank Drebin, originally played by the late Leslie Nielson, as he seeks to uncover the culprit behind a nefarious plot to assassinate Queen Elizabeth in Los Angeles. The first film, released in 1988, spawned several sequels and a short-lived TV show.

Rumors of a fourth Naked Gun film, Rhythm of Evil, began circulating in 2009. Unfortunately, the film’s development hell, followed by Nielson’s passing the following year, resulted in it being lost to time.

In 2014, reports of a reboot took root with The Hangover actor Ed Helms reported to star as Drebin. Those rumors, like a game of telephone, would later evolve into Neeson telling People magazine he was approached by Paramount Studios and McFarlane to star in the reboot in 2021.

Although Neeson is known for serious action movie roles, he’s starred in his fair share of MacFarlane comedies over the course of his career. Chief among them being films like Ted 2, A Million Ways To Die In The West, and the sci-fi Fox comedy The Orville. Likewise, Anderson has cut her teeth on comedic films as well, staring in satires like Scary Movie 3, Superhero Movie, and the 2017 reboot of Baywatch.

In our review of The Naked Gun 2012 Blu-ray release, we said, “The Naked Gun isn’t quite as solid as Airplane!, but it’s a very funny spoof of your traditional cop drama/film noir driven by Leslie Nielsen’s dynamic straight-faced performance.”

The Naked Gun reboot is slated to release in theaters on July 18, 2025.
