Arcane, Fortiche’s animated series based on Riot Games’ League of Legends, concluded its second and final season late last month. As the series’ fans alike sift through the many exciting questions left behind by Arcane’s finale — just how much of the show is canon to League of Legends? When are we getting more shows set in the League of Legends universe? — the fine folks at Fortiche are circling back for a victory lap with the publication of the series’ art book, The Art and Making of Arcane, set to release in stores this Tuesday.
The Art and Making of Arcane documents the origins of the acclaimed animated series from its early days right up to its final hours of production. Featuring never-before-seen concept art, character designs, and worldbuilding artwork, not too mention exhaustive interviews with over 20 key animators, writers, game designers, and more, The Art and Making of Arcane is the authoritative breakdown of the series’ creation.
To celebrate the book’s release this week, Insight Editions offered Polygon an exclusive excerpt from The Art and Making of Arcane. The pages detail some of the thought process that went into crafting the look and atmosphere of the undercity of Zaun, as well as concept art for several characters and vehicles seen throughout the city of Piltover.
