Riddick: Furya Officially in Production With Vin Diesel Reprising Iconic Role, Plot Summary Revealed

A fourth Riddick movie called Riddick: Furya, is officially in production.

According to a press release, Vin Diesel will reprise his role as the escaped space prison convict Richard B. Riddick. Diesel will serve as the film’s producer under his production house, One Race Films. Riddick: Furya will also see the return of the film series writer and director David Twohy.

Riddick: Furya will begin shooting in Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom on August 26.

Here’s a brief plot synopsis from Riddick: Furya’s press release:

Riddick finally returns to his homeworld, a place he barely remembers and one he fears might be left in ruins. But there he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new monster. And some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he could have ever imagined.

Diesel’s Riddick series began in 2000 with Pitch Black. The sci-fi film would later receive two sequels: 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick and 2013’s Riddick. Diesel expressed his interest in returning to his dark sci-fi series with Universal Studios in 2014.

The following year, Diesel shared a Facebook video of himself Twohy, saying he’d want the fourth Riddick film to examine “where it all started” with his titular character. Diesel’s social media quandary would come to life with Riddick: Furya’s official announcement last year.

In our review of Riddick (2013), we gave the film a 6 out of 10, saying “Vin Diesel talks tough and kills monsters & scumbags in the not great, but still dumb fun threequel Riddick.”
