Roblox is off to a great start on PlayStation. This analysis comes from Mat Piscatella, executive director and leading analyst at Circana (NPD). In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Piscatella said Roblox “ranked 3rd in percentage of PlayStation players that played the title at least once” during its launch on the PlayStation, trailing only Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Fortnite.

Roblox had a huge debut week on PlayStation.

According to Circana’s Player Engagement Tracker, during its launch week Roblox ranked 3rd in percentage of PlayStation players that played the title at least once.

Only Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Fortnite ranked higher.

The statistics for the PS5 and PS4 versions of Roblox isn’t too surprising. According to a September 15 post from the official Roblox account on X, more than 65 million play Roblox daily. Now that the game is available on PlayStation, the numbers may increase as new players discover it for the first time. Roblox has experience big growth in the last few years among kids and teens under 16, with the COVID-19 pandemic cited as among the reasons.

It’s not all positive though. Roblox has been criticized for fostering a world in which kids scam kids while the developers profit from their labor.

At the 2023 Roblox Developers Conference last month, Roblox Corporation confirmed that the game will be ported over to PS5 and PS4 after already making it available on Xbox, in addition to PC, Mac, iOS, Android, and Meta Quest. At the time, the company said in a press release that PlayStation users who play on either console can log into their Roblox account and continue where they left off on another platform.

There are no plans for Roblox to come to Nintendo Switch as of yet, but Roblox CEO Davee Baszuki said in a conference call in August it might at some point.
