Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Trailer Gives New Look at Intense Gameplay | Game Awards 2023

Today at The Game Awards, we got another close look at Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, this time focusing on some intense cinematic and gameplay sequences.

We didn’t get a release date, just further confirmation that it’s coming sometime in 2024. It’ll arrive on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox Game Pass, and PC via Steam.

Though we’ve gotten several peeks at the highly anticipated sequel, this trailer give an even closer look at some of the cinematics and gameplay, all captured by developer Ninja Theory on Xbox Series X.

“I can feel them on my skin,” Senua says in an eerie voiceover. “Each death, inked in blood. I won’t stop fighting for them until the very last beat fades away.”

Per the official synopsis, Hellblade 2 will see Senua return “in a brutal journey of survival through the myth and torment of Viking Iceland. Intent on saving those who have fallen victim to the horrors of tyranny, Senua faces a battle of overcoming the darkness within and without.”

Hellblade 2 was first revealed at The Game Awards in 2019 with a teaser, followed by a first look at gameplay in 2021. We got another, longer look earlier this year at Xbox’s summer showcase alongside a release window, and now it seems like the sequel to the acclaimed Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is finally imminent.

In our launch review of the game, we called it “a masterclass of atmosphere, storytelling, and the marriage of mechanical and conceptual design,” so here’s hoping Hellblade 2 manages to take that already-incredible work to the next level.
