The Marvels Final Trailer Confirms a Big MCU Appearance

Marvel has released the final trailer for The Marvels, and confirmed a major character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe makes an appearance in the film.

Spoilers for The Marvels are ahead.

The trailer shows off footage of characters we already knew would appear in the movie: Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel, Nick Fury, and Dar-Benn. But it also shows a glimpse of a character we did not know would show up: Valkyrie, played by Tessa Thompson.

In the trailer, we see Valkyrie delivering a pep talk to Captain Marvel: “You can stand tall without standing alone.”

It’s unclear just how big a role Valkyrie plays in the movie. Is it a cameo? Or perhaps Valkyrie appears in multiple scenes, lending a hand in the fight against Dar-Benn. Before this trailer, there hadn’t been any indication that The Marvels was a movie that pulled in characters from the wider MCU, much less a Thor-focused character, so Valkyrie’s appearance comes as something of a surprise.

Meanwhile, in the trailer Monica Rambeau reveals “there’s a different reality bleeding into ours”.

But what could this different reality relate to? Fan speculation revolves around the X-Men. We know Ms. Marvel is a mutant, per the ending of the Ms. Marvel TV show. Last month, a The Marvels trailer included the text “What Comes Next”. All the letters fade out except for the letter X.

#TheMarvels‘ new trailer briefly highlights the ‘X’ in a ‘What Comes Next’ header, sparking fan speculation that the sequel may connect to the #XMen!
