This Gigabyte 2TB PS5-Compatible SSD With Heatsink Is Only $109.99

SSD prices are trending upwards for 2024 and we don’t know how long that will last. Most 2TB PS5-compatible SSDs are already currently selling for $130 or higher, but there is one exception. Right now Amazon is offering the Gigabyte Aorus 2TB PCIe Gen4 x4 M.2 solid state drive (SSD) with included aluminum heatsink for only $109.99. The next lowest price on a brand we are familiar with is the Kingston Fury Renegade 2TB SSD for $124.99.

Gigabyte Aorus 2TB SSD (PS5-Compatible) for $109.99

The Gigabyte Aorus meets all the requirements for your PS5 SSD upgrade. It supports transfer speeds of up to 7,300MB/s read and 6,850MB/s write which is well above the 5,500MB/s minimum threshold. Note that a robust heatsink is included in the package, however it’s not pre-attached. You’ll have to install if yourself. This was most likely done because a lot of motherboards have integrated heatsinks and only bare SSD chips fit in the slots. Fortunately, installing the heatsink onto the SSD is very easy. The heatsink is made of aluminum. It’s also slim enough to fit in the PS5 bay with the cover on.

The PS5 is an outstanding gaming console, but the 1TB SSD is a real bottleneck. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, for example, can exceed 200GB alone. NBA 2K23 weighs in at 150GB and even older games like God of War: Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West require 90GB of space. Future games like Grand Theft Auto VI will undoubtedly demand even more space.
