Timothee Chalamet Says Spider-Man 2 Is His Game of the Year, Calls GTA 6 Trailer ‘Gnarly’

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

ModdedController 360 – er, sorry, Oscar-nominated actor Timothee Chalamet – had the big job last week of presenting Game of the Year at last week’s The Game Awards, which went to Baldur’s Gate 3.

But his own Game of the Year? That’d be Spider-Man 2.

“It was just amazing,” he told IGN on the red carpet of Wonka at its recent Los Angeles premiere. “It was in-depth.”

Despite seven nominations at last week’s ceremony, Spider-Man 2, with stiff competition, didn’t take home any awards – but hey, at least it’s got Chalamet’s GOTY award. When asked about his favorite moment of the game, he said he “didn’t want to give anything away,” so fair enough.

Beyond that, though, Chalamet spoke a little more about his gaming habits with IGN. The actor eventually admitted on the Dune press tour that he once had a YouTube channel for modded Xbox controllers, and got into the nitty gritty when asked about what his perfect modded controller looks like.

“I might be a little outdated now, but back in the day, it was something with like, a trigger mod,” he said. “If it was like, an FAL with a single trigger, you could unlock it with a mod.”

“That’s gonna sell Wonka,” he joked, given that he was there to promote the upcoming origin story. Well, at least we did catch him at the Xbox Wonka booth, so it’s still kind of on brand.

Finally, we asked Chalamet about the most talked-about gaming news of the moment: the new GTA 6 trailer. And of course, he’s seen it.

“I thought it was crazy!” he said. “I haven’t really spent any time in Miami or Florida, so I don’t want to say anything disrespectful. But it just seemed gnarly.”

We also got to break the news to him that it’s coming in 2025 – so Chalamet, like the rest of GTA fans, are holding tight.
