Vampire Survivors is officially come to PlayStation platforms. Announced during today’s Triple-I Initiative showcase, Vampire Survivors’ devs confirmed that the wildly popular roguelite will be releasing this summer. It was previously released on PC, Switch, mobile, and Xbox.
Additionally, new Vampire Survivors DLC was revealed, this time featuring characters from Contra. They include Brad Fang from Contra: Hard Corps, better-known as the wolf with the gun grafted to his arm. The new DLC will be out May 9.
Originally released in 2022, Vampire Survivors was first released on Mac and Windows, with the latter becoming the most-played Steam Deck game in August and September 2022. Eventually, Vampire Survivors developer and publisher Luca “Poncle” Galante would port the project onto Xbox, mobile devices, and the Nintendo Switch in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
In addition to various ports released over the last two years since its initial release, the development team has stayed busy providing new content to keep players coming back for more. In December 2022, the development team announced Legacy of the Moonspell, the first major DLC expansion for Vampire Survivors, with a second DLC released in April 2023 subtitled Tides of the Foscari.
In our review of Vampire Survivors 1.0, IGN wrote: “Need a game to play while listening to podcasts? This is it. Vampire Survivors is outwardly simple but turns out to be an incredibly deep hole to fall down – though it’s not without extended dull periods when you get ahead of its curve.’
Beyond its achievements in its original medium, nearly a year ago, Story Kitchen announced that it was teaming up with Poncle to adapt Vampire Survivors into an animated TV series. While not much has been shared beyond the official announcement, both parties are aiming to turn the indie game darling into “a premium, animated television series.”
