A Quiet Place: Day One’s Tense New Trailer Features Monsters, Mayhem, and a Moggy

Shhhhhh: we just got our latest look at A Quiet Place: Day One, with Paramount Pictures dropping a new trailer for the origin story today.

It’s the latest glimpse at the film since the Super Bowl earlier this year, with its Big Game spot harkening back to A Quiet Place and its sequel before offering an idea of how Day One fits into things. Today’s trailer provides an even clearer look at what the prequel has in store, including monsters, mayhem, and a much-loved moggy.

Frodo, the cat, belongs to Sam (Lupita Nyong’o), who is pictured on the latest poster standing next to Eric (Joseph Quinn) as the pair agree to team up to navigate the chaotic events unfolding in the city together. “Stay quiet. Stay alive,” the text reads, reinforcing that silence is golden in this specific game of survival.

A Quiet Place: Day One is based on an original idea by the director of the first two films, John Krasinski, but it isn’t set to focus on his or Emily Blunt’s characters. Instead, it will offer an origin story of the initial invasion by bloodthirsty aliens who hunt by sound, leading to the quietest apocalypse imaginable.

It also brings in a starry new cast, including Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o, Stranger Things breakout Joseph Quinn, and Hereditary’s Alex Wolff. It will have one familiar face, though, in the form of Djimon Hounsou, who’ll reprise his mysterious character (previously referred to as “Man on Island”) from A Quiet Place Part II.

Day One isn’t the last we will see of the horror series either, as Paramount confirmed in 2022 that A Quiet Place Part III is in the works for 2025. Entertainment Weekly, however, previously reported that it’s likely delayed from that 2025 goal.

Michael Sarnoski wrote and directed A Quiet Place: Day One from Krasinski’s idea. After several delays, the film is set to hit theaters on June 28, 2024.
