Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery has started filming, and Daniel Craig is sporting a new hairstyle for his third outing as Benoit Blanc.
First, we had Blonde Bond, and now Rian Johnson is giving us Bob Blanc. The director of the star-studded Knives Out murder mysteries took to X/Twitter to share a black-and-white photo of Craig suited up as the typically preened private investigator at the center of his films, but this time it looks like he is letting his hair down.
“Aaaaand we’re off!” Johnson declared in the post. “Today is day 1 of shooting on the next Benoit Blanc mystery ‘Wake Up Dead Man’ – see you on the other side.”
Craig looks quite different from when he last stepped out in Glass Onion, as instead of having slicked-down hair and a clean-shaven face, he is now embracing longer locks and stubble. He is also pictured holding a fedora, though it would arguably be a crime to cover up his new ‘do — perhaps that’s where this movie begins.
The people of X/Twitter shared some hair-larious reactions to the transformation, while others switched into sleuthing mode to consider whether the hair is a simple style choice or whether it will be part of Blanc’s character arc or perhaps even a time jump, with Blanc’s new look representing a different period.

The third Knives Out mystery has an incredibly stacked cast made up of Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, Thomas Haden Church, and, of course, Craig, who reprises his role from Knives Out (2019) and Glass Onion (2022).
Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery will hit Netflix (as part of the streaming platform’s two-sequel deal reportedly worth $469 million) in 2025.
