Sharknado Gets Barbie-Inspired Poster Ahead of 10th Anniversary Theatrical Release
Sharknado is heading to theatres for a special two-night cinema event on August 15 and August 16, and – of course – there’s a Barbie-themed poster to mark the occasion.
There must be some-fin in the water because, after the staggering success of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, Sharknado has had a makeover for its 10th-anniversary poster… and this Barbie is driving through a pink tornado of man-eating sharks. She is joined by a chainsaw-wielding Ken-panion, ready for some “kills and thrills” on the road ahead.
The poster, courtesy of The Asylum, the independent production company behind Sharknado, embraces the Barbie craze to promote the theatrical release of its pop culture phenomenon. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the “fully remastered” version of Sharknado is hitting theatres for a two-day celebration this month.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Sharknado director Anthony C. Ferrante encouraged fans to re-experience the ‘Nado!’ “Remastered in 4K, new scenes, new VFX, remixed sound + more”, he shared with his followers. He also shared the link to sharknado10th.com for people to check showtimes and buy tickets.

A trailer for the remastered version of Sharknado offers a refresher of the low-budget feature, which originally aired on Syfy in July 2013 but went on to spawn five sequels and three spinoffs. Spoiler alert: the franchise features a boatload of sharks and tornadoes, as nature’s deadliest killer takes to the skies to torment the world.
